"SHADOW"

Daylight, which is used as an active component in architecture, also requires the concept of shadow as a design problem to be considered. Light and shadow control, which is one of the psychological and physical comfort conditions, offers the designer many options that can establish the perception relationship between the user and the space. The shadow-light duality, which has an important role in architectural formation, has found its place in different branches of art from past to present.

Shadow; In addition to being a physical reality, it also contains many symbolic meanings. There is no shadow without light and no object, no object without shadow.  Its transience due to light, its flexibility and fragility, which varies according to its owner, arouses surprise.  The shadow gives information about its owner. Sometimes it can be a person, a structure, a cloud, or even a mood.

On the one hand, the shade cools, relaxes, provides comfort and provides privacy, on the other hand, it hides and conceals.  Sometimes it can be deceptive or frightening with another arrangement, which is made fun by being gamified by being dropped on a wall or a curtain.  This richness of both physical and intellectual content in the shadow has made it an art object. As a subject, it has been interpreted by artists for centuries and has found its place in different disciplines.  In architecture, which is one of these disciplines, the space created by the combination of light and shadow is of great importance in terms of its user and building envelope.
